Today was a busy day. The rainy morning started indoors at the Friends of the Pembroke Library with their Annual Book and Bake Sale. So many people showed up to find a good read or a good treat (I went with the treat), and it was heartening to see how many people stopped to help a dog that seemed to have lost her way. Next stop was the Duxbury Democratic Town Committee signature drive, with some good conversations with voters who stopped in to sign papers. Then it was on to 95.9 WATD FM to talk with Arthur Boyle on-air. Finished just in time to head to the Pembroke Herring Run for the Pembroke Community Clean Up Day! If you missed the timing shift due to weather, you could always head out to pick up litter on local roads tomorrow and drop off at the Herring Run. The Halifax Beautification Committee has an ongoing Spring Cleanup that started April 13th and runs to April 28th. In Hanson, Green Hanson has their 2024 CleanUp GreenUp day next Saturday, April 27th starting at the Nathanial Thomas Mill. Marshfield also has its Keep Marshfield Clean event next Saturday as well, with the Marshfield DPW supplying bags and a drop off for trash, with the Marshfield Democratic Town Committee organizing a team at Dandelion Park. Duxbury will have a town wide Litter Sweep on May 4th, with more info at Sustainable Duxbury. May 4th is also a full community day in Duxbury with Out To See Duxbury events! The Spring is a great time for cleaning up and community events!
