Happy Mother’s Day

I have been blessed to have a mother who has weathered the ups and downs of life with me, and stands strong with me at 88 years of age. She has always taught me to be a woman for others (to borrow and modify a phrase from my son’s school). She is the strongest person I know. As a mom and in this campaign, I carry much of her with me.

I was also blessed to have had a neighbor who became a second mother to me. Nurturing me from childhood into adulthood, and being a loving figure in my life until she passed when I was in my 30s. I carry her with me as well.

However you are a mother to others, I wish you a Happy Mother’s Day!

For myself, I am always so grateful on this day, as it was not easy for me to become a mother. I know that I am so lucky that my journey lead to mothering a wonderful son. For those who wanted to become a mother and were not able to, and for those who have lost a child, I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day and hoping that you have found ways to be a mother to others.
