Becky's Memorial Day Thoughts

As I get up this Memorial Day, I am thinking of those we lost in service to our country. This weekend, I saw this post by a friend that I share with her permission. Her father died in Vietnam when she was a young child. She went on to enlist and to marry a service member. Then her husband went to war, while she stayed with their boys, not knowing if she would have to raise her children without him, as her mom had done. There is such pride in serving, and most Gold Star families tell their stories, when they are able, with pride. But it is not easy. When we see numbers of those killed in wars, each one was a life given, a life interrupted, a person who was loved. This Memorial Day, it is time for all of us to remember and honor those who served for this constitutional experiment that has given us all such opportunity and relative safety in this world. May we honor them by giving of ourselves here at home to continue to make this the best country possible! And for those enjoying a BBQ today, by sending up a little thank you for the peace that allows us to relax and have fun!

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day.
